Rules for Rural - t3 Wireless, Inc. Installs Wireless Broadband Network in Alaska
Cordova, Alaska (PRWEB) June 21, 2014 -- What are the options for a telephone company needing to extend wireless LTE, WiMAX, or Wi-Fi broadband coverage to help commercial fisherman connect with the World Wide Web in a mountain area of rural Alaska?
t3 Wireless, Inc. (t3) in Council Grove, Kansas, a rural company serving rural communication companies has teamed up with Cordova Telephone Cooperative to provide a solution.
t3 recently completed an upgrade in the Prince William Sound area adjacent to the Gulf of Alaska for Cordova Telephone for additional capacity to their GSM cellular network. They’ll be providing additional nomadic high speed broadband to areas never before served.
Accessible only by helicopter or boat and solar powered, the Alaska telephone company’s service area now has 4G high speed broadband to offer their customers thanks to the engineering and integration efforts of t3.
“Commercial fisherman in the gulf can now get high speed data to their boat!” said t3 Chief Engineer Joe Reed.
“We get asked about every day… what is it exactly that you guys do?” said John French Sales Director at t3 Wireless, Inc. home office in downtown Council Grove, Kansas. “Well, it has been tough at times to describe because very few situations are the same, and commercial grade rural connectivity has unique challenges. In this particular case, we helped tackle the extreme by pulling together the right knowledge and hardware. Cordova can now provide their customers with reliable 4G broadband that will really make a difference in their area and help keep them connected to the rest of the world.”
Cordova Telephone’s Central Office Foreman Shane Songer added, “Our challenges and resources are different out here. I don’t have a large team to direct so t3’s experience is invaluable. We can now expand Cordova’s portfolio to our customers by offering increased bandwidth services.”
“Most of t3’s projects are a little closer to home, however, we do work with rural telephone companies and electrical cooperatives all over the U.S.,” explained Dave Kirk, President at t3 Wireless. “We work mostly in rural America helping to build wireless networks that our clients use to support their customers.
“It’s a challenging time right now for small town America, and it has never been more important for rural providers to provide their local businesses, schools, hospitals, and residents with quality high speed broadband and voice. Our clients are quietly supporting so many of the critical revenue streams and backbones that keep life in rural America connected to the rest of the world.”
t3’s experience has proven to be a huge benefit to manufacturers lacking in experience with the needs and obstacles of smaller rural operators fighting to compete.
“LTE (long Term Evolution – high speed mobile broadband), WiMAX (high speed fixed wireless) and Wi-Fi (indoor wireless) have been where most of the demand is right now. LTE and Wi-Fi is being upgraded everywhere to handle the demands of smart phones and tablets. That’s been a huge growth area for our customers as most every kid has an iPhone in their pocket anymore and the legacy networks won’t support them. Advances in areas such as 'E-Learning' is requiring higher quality bandwidth in the schools to support testing, etc. We believe rural America has to keep up and stay connected and are devoted to coming up with those quality solutions,” explains Kirk.

t3’s roots are rural with the home office in Council Grove, Kansas population 2,100, but also has remote employees in Minnesota, Texas, and Florida. “Guess you might say we are an example as a company of what high speed connectivity can do.
We feel very blessed to live in a rural spot, yet be able to be remotely connected to the rest of the world and operate and work out of a small community that has good communication services. It’s great to see others do the same,” Kirk added.
