Wihl to Present New Cyber Warfare Training Approach to AFCEA Cyber Symposium
Culver City, CA (PRWEB) June 20, 2014 -- SCALABLE Network Technologies, Inc. (SCALABLE), the leader in network virtualization technology for planning, testing and training, announced today that Lloyd Wihl, director of technical sales for SCALABLE, will be presenting ‘A New Approach to Training for Cyber Warfare’ at the AFCEA Cyber Symposium on Tuesday 24 June in Baltimore, MD. The presentation identifies issues with current methods for training the operational and support personnel who undertake military and emergency response missions, and demonstrates an alternative approach that enables the effective integration of cyber warfare effects into traditional physical/kinetic mission rehearsal exercises.
“Hardware-based or VM-based cyber ranges which replicate information systems do not realistically integrate the impact of a cyber-attack into an overall mission, which is essential for mission rehearsal,” stated Lloyd Wihl, SCALABLE director of technical sales. “Moreover, they have limited capability to simulate wireless networks with their inherent vulnerabilities, for example self-organizing tactical networks that assume all nodes are cooperating. SCALABLE has addressed these shortcomings by developing a unique approach that integrates real and simulated cyber-attacks, wired and wireless virtual networks, live and virtual equipment and applications, and traditional kinetic warfare training simulators into a full, instrumented, synthetic cyber warfare training environment. The system allows trainee performance centered on awareness, reaction time and correct action at all levels, along with ability to work through a degraded cyber environment, to be monitored and evaluated.”
The presentation is part of the Cyber Solutions Trail conference track, and will be judged by the AFCEA Technology and Cyber committees for innovation and industry value.
