Sydney (PRWEB) June 22, 2014 -- For the fans who did not make it to Brazil for the World Cup, what’s the next best thing? Feeling like they are part of the match themselves from the comfort of their couches, made possible by a new App designed by Australian mobile communications specialist Mnet (http://www.mnetmobile.com).
Designed for client Kia, Mnet’s new App running on SBS’ 2014 World Cup broadcasts delivers soccer fans multiple opportunities to rewrite the global sport’s history - by using their smartphones to save some of the World Cup’s most famous goals.
A total of seven World Cup goal attempts by Football’s most famous players including England’s David Beckham and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo are appearing on Australian televisions during the 2014 World Cup competition. Using a newly developed App and Mnet’s proprietary second-screen HARK™ technology, fans can attempt to save these goals and build their points in a national competition.
Mnet CEO Travis Johnson said, “The seven goals in the series were digitally re-created from a goal keeper’s perspective to bring a highly realistic view of the ball strikes and potential goal-saving action.”

Action scenes for the series were filmed at Sydney Olympic Stadium with David Zdrilic, who is an SBS Ambassador and played 30 times for Australia, once scoring eight goals in a single game. The World Cup Shootout app is being promoted throughout the tournament by SBS and can be downloaded from the iTunes and Google Play stores. The video challenges are also hosted on Kia’s website, the channel’s website and to a global audience on YouTube.
Steve Watt, General Manager, Marketing, for Kia in Australia, said, “This is a perfect platform to promote the sporty Kia Pro_cee’d GT to a technology savvy, and highly engaged, World Cup audience.”
Kia and Mnet worked with Initiative Media and Innocean Worldwide on the SBS World Cup activation.
