Study Finds Online Shoppers Shop Better and Prefer Point of Purchase Instant Q&A, a Service of BuyKnowing, Inc.
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) June 23, 2014 -- A new online research study has demonstrated a clear increase in product purchases when shoppers can quickly get answers to product questions. Ask a question, show the answer, and close the sale.
In a recent controlled study, online shoppers were instructed to check a few product features before they went through with a purchase. The shoppers almost unanimously preferred to use a point of purchase instant Question and Answer Assistant, rather than hunt for product information further down a product page. The Question and Answer Assistant features technology that helpfully guides shoppers to their question after just one or two keystrokes, then quickly brings back an accurate answer to any question in real time.
“It seemed intuitive that this question and answer technology at point of purchase would save shoppers time and frustration, but the industry hasn’t seen this type of smart technology in online or mobile shopping applications,” said study designer Rock Clapper, a former research professor at Brown University and statistical analyst at Stanford University. The study was designed to tease out shopper preferences when engaging the technology, their likelihood to prefer using it while shopping in the future, and their interest in sharing their experience with others through social media. Clapper indicated that, “Once shopping sites begin to adopt the technology, this research study indicates it will become the new standard”.
The technology was developed by BuyKnowing, Inc., a Palo Alto software development company whose founders have extensive experience successfully building software, web services and mobile companies. BuyKnowing’s Question and Answer Assistant has between 50 to 100 questions and answers for the most popular 2 million products, and will soon expand to over 15 million products.
“Online shopping analysts have been stating for over a decade that almost 50% of shoppers abandon their shopping cart or product page to search for more product information. We developed this technology to give shoppers information while they’re on the product page so they can quickly get their questions answered and complete their purchase,” said BuyKnowing’s CEO Bill Breck.
