Chicago-Based Structural Engineering Firm Establishes Maui Location
Kahalui, HI (PRWEB) June 23, 2014 -- K2N Crest, a respected Chicago-based structural engineering, design and consulting firm, today opened its new regional office on the island of Maui to serve the unique structural needs of the Hawaiian community.
Hawaii’s island environment offers distinctive challenges and considerations – such as seismic influences, strong winds and weather patterns, and sea-related salt corrosion. Commercial building owners and managers need experienced solutions that can address these concerns.
K2N Crest founder and president, Don Kimball, SE, PE, CCS, is enthusiastic about serving the community where he spent his formative years and where he graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Engineering.
“I love Hawaii and am grateful for the opportunity to return to open our Maui office,” Kimball states. “We are committed to delivering structural solutions that honor the Hawaiian spirit while utilizing the valuable experience gained working on projects throughout the US.”
According to Kimball, “Conservation and environmental awareness are essential here in Maui. We deliver island-oriented structural design and consulting, and can incorporate renewable resource solutions, such as solar panels and ‘green’ rooftops to conserve energy.”
Jim Whitcomb, president and founder of Haleakala Solar, a pioneer in the field of solar energy, has worked with K2N Crest for years. Whitcomb notes, “Whether we’re called upon to install solar panels to convert sunlight into direct current or to design and install a solar hot water system, we depend on the registered roof consultants and structural engineers of K2N Crest for expertise and proven experience.”
