Lisa Donahey: Takes on Broadway is a delightful offering of Broadway favorites that pays homage to classic and contemporary Broadway. Each song showcases Lisa’s versatile vocal and storytelling underscored with brand new original arrangements. From the infectious “Get Happy” (the 1930 production of Nine-Fifteen Revue) and the quintessentially seductive “Whatever Lola Wants” (DamnYankees) to the current “I’m Not That Girl” (Wicked), the consummate singer and performer brings a new appreciation of this genre to listeners of all ages.
A graduate of the prestigious Berkelee College of Music, Donahey received the coveted “Outstanding Performer of the Year” award. Lisa is not limited to singing one particular musical style; she enjoys singing everything from musical theater to jazz, country to classical and has made a name for herself in the music industry working with songwriters and film scorers alike. Further exposing her talent with performances on the small screen, Lisa has sung on ABC’s “The Middle,” “General Hospital,” and NBC’s “Harry’s Law.” Donahey can also be heard on the Disney*Pixar animated feature film, “Tangled.” Deciding to add a cover of “Let It Go” to her already amazing catalogue, Donahey recently recorded a cover of the Oscar Award winning song. http://youtu.be/WKiPa0j4D20
In 2009, Donahey launched her career with her debut CD, “Lisa Donahey: She’s Got It Covered,” and she covered it indeed. The disc is an amazing array of cover tunes from various musical genres: Jazz to R&B, Country to Musical Theatre. “She’s Got It Covered” featured the fan favorite, “Bacon,” which tells the tale of a lovely cafeteria Lunch Lady who is torn between her love of animals and her love of bacon. The video has become a viral favorite, and has been featured on Will Ferrell’s “Funny or Die” video channel. http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/1371613eeb/bacon-lisa-donahey.
Paying homage to Broadway favorites, Lisa Donahey: Takes on Broadway features Donahey’s powerful and expressive vocals on classics like “Send In The Clowns” from A Little Night Music and “On the Street Where You Live” from my Fair Lady to new Broadway favorites like “Stars and the Moon” from Songs for a New World and others. The CD is available at CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon and emusic.
