In today’s easy guitar lesson, Jon demonstrates some Eric Johnson style triads that incorporate the technique of hybrid picking, which is picking the lower note with the guitar pick and picking the higher notes with your fingers, a technique used widely by country guitarists and is a big part of how Eric Johnson articulates chords. In this lesson MacLennan demonstrates examples again in the key of C climbing the major scale. The first example, C major, consists of the 8th fret of the 6th string with 3rd finger, 5th fret of the 4th string with first finger and 9th fret of the 3rd string with 4th finger. The second example is Dm (D minor), which consists of the 10th fret of the 6th string with 3rd finger, 7th fret of the 4th string with first finger and 10th fret of the 3rd string with 4th finger. MacLennan uses these two shapes to move through the entire C major scale. Guitar TAB’s are available for this easy guitar lesson at GuitarControl.com.
