Tomatina (, a casual chef-inspired restau¬rant, will offer customers a new way to enjoy fresh Italian food with the launch of its catering service at all existing and new locations. To lead this effort, Tomatina has added Rachael Bowman, Catering Sales Manager, to its staff.

Mark Nicandri, Senior Vice President of Operations, is pleased to have the additional service and staff. “We are thrilled to provide our guests with the great food they have come to expect in our restaurants by allowing them to bring Tomatina into their homes and offices.” The broad catering menu includes Tomatina’s signature piadine, flatbread baked fresh and topped with a variety of cool salads and dressings. Mr. Nicandri adds, “Rachael will help immensely in rolling out our catering business. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience along with a knack for details that will make our catering service operate to the satisfaction of our customers.” Ms. Bowman is a graduate of San Francisco State University and was most recently employed at Straw in San Francisco. Previously, she launched and led the catering effort at Asqew Grill. In her new position, Ms. Bowman will oversee all catering sales and operations.

The timing couldn’t be better for these additions as Tomatina heads into the first of three new restaurant locations. “Our new San Jose location is set to open in late-June in West Valley Shopping Center, 5205 Prospect Road at Saratoga Avenue, followed soon by our location in San Mateo at 4th Avenue and B Street,” says Nicandri. Plans are also in place for a new East Bay location across from the movie theatre at Union Landing, with no firm date set.

Tomatina specializes in modern interpretations of traditional Italian recipes, including its signature piadines and made-from-scratch dough, sauces, dressings and desserts. Nicandri sees great opportunity in continuing the fresh proposition as the restaurant and services expand. “Our customers appreciate that our food is made to order with fresh ingredients. And we are proud that each restaurant has a full-time chef on staff to ensure a great meal every time you dine with us.”
