The University of Colorado's Anschutz Health and Wellness Center to be Featured Again on ABC-TV’S “Extreme Weight Loss"
Aurora, Colo. (PRWEB) June 23, 2014 -- The hit series “Extreme Weight Loss,” produced by Eyeworks USA, has been picked up for a fifth season by the ABC Television Network, and that’s good news for the University of Colorado’s Anschutz Health and Wellness Center (AHWC) in Aurora, Colorado. “Extreme Weight Loss” is a unique, non-competitive show about weight loss that documents the unprecedented 365-day journeys of courageous, “super obese” people. The series’ fourth season is currently airing on ABC on Tuesdays, 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
This season, the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center hosted participants for the first 90 days of their weight loss transformations. Now, with 13 two-hour episodes ordered for season five, AHWC has once again been selected as the center where the participants will spend the first three months of their journeys.
The CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center offers some of the country’s most advanced research and science-based expertise, focusing on a comprehensive weight loss and weight loss management approach, including fitness, nutrition and wellness services.
The series features AHWC’s medical director Dr. Holly Wyatt (“Dr. Holly”) as the show’s medical director who also will return next season. Wyatt has extensive clinical experience using behavioral treatment, diet and exercise to help people lose weight. She also has received awards from the National Institute of Health to study energy metabolism and metabolic factors associated with weight loss.
On “Extreme Weight Loss,” Wyatt works alongside transformation specialists and trainers Chris and Heidi Powell to guide participants on their journeys to safely lose up to half their body weight, ultimately revealing an amazing metamorphosis.
New in season five will be three special editions, “Extreme Weight Loss: Love Can’t Weight,” in which Chris and Heidi, along with Dr. Wyatt, help three couples get in shape – both physically and emotionally – in time for each of their weddings.
JD Roth, "Extreme Weight Loss" executive producer and CEO, Eyeworks USA, said, "We had a fantastic run in season four working with the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center whose high level of expertise and partnership played a significant role in the success of our participants, and the show itself. We're delighted we'll be spending more time in Colorado working with AHWC in season five!"
