Award Winning Lighting Designer Christopher Thompson and the Studio Lux Team To Install Modern Lighting Systems For The Carnegie Restoration Project
Everett, WA (PRWEB) June 25, 2014 -- Lighting Designer and founder of Studio Lux, Christopher Thompson has recently been awarded a contract for the lighting design of interior tenant improvements and the historic restoration of the iconic Carnegie Building in Everett, WA.
In collaboration with Capital Architects, Thompson and his partner Jim Sultan will develop a design, which introduces 21st century lighting standards and techniques to the richly historic building. Thompson’s design will incorporate sustainable lighting equipment that will complement the historical nature of the structure and fall under the guidelines provided by the architect and the site’s owners. This installment will vastly improve the efficiency of the lighting systems throughout.

Having been vacant for a few years, the 1905 structure first opened as the city’s library and has since been placed on the country’s National Register of Historic Places. This restoration project intends to revive the site and highlight its key features. The restoration will also be in addition to Thompson’s extensive experience in restorations of historical buildings, the most notable being both the Seattle Carnegie Libraries, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin Wisconsin Estate, and Taliesin West in Scottsdale. Lighting for the Carnegie Building will follow the guidelines stipulated by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America and are intended to exceed the energy requirements of the Washington State Energy Code.
