New Era of the Famous Xcaret México Espectacular by Experiencias Xcaret
Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico (PRWEB) June 25, 2014 -- With a renewed stage and advanced technology, incredible costumes and a flawless set design, Xcaret has begun a new era of its famous and widely known presentation Xcaret México Espectacular.
It is a journey through the history of México going from the pre-Hispanic era to the time of the Spanish conquest, colonial times, independent Mexico and the revolution, finally arriving to present day Mexico, a country with an age-old mixture of culture and traditions that have lasted through the ages.
More than 300 artists in original attire exhibit their talents in this spectacular stage with an ambiance of light and color and a display of traditional dances, enactments of Mexican history, legends and a full jamboree from the different regions of the country. A celebration of Mexico that overflows with joy, magic and tradition, accompanied with music representing every corner of this wide land of treasures, including of course the Mariachi, Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The renewed version of the Xcaret night show plays up the mythical story of the sacred book of the Maya, the Popol Vuh, where the divine twins challenge the Lords of Death to a ball game, the sacred game of creation.
The Dance of the Owls, birds that according to the Popol Vuh were sacred to the Mayan people, is also presented on this beautiful stage. Owls are considered messengers to the gods of the underworld. With this dance, they predict the arrival of the Spaniard conquerors and the treason of the Tlaxcalteca people.
The arrival of the Spaniard conquerors to Tenochtitlan can also be seen onstage as well as the meeting between Moctezuma and Cortés where the Aztec ruler assumes that the prophecy of the arrival of the god Quetzalcoátl is being fulfilled, and he hands his kingdom over to the latter. Also shown is the resistance of the indigenous people to the subjugation, the mission of converting them to the Catholic religion and the coming together of two races through the mixing of their music, songs and common history.
A unique artistic approach to the miracle of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which took place in 1531 during a tragic moment in Mexico’s history which was afflicted by a plague, smallpox and racism, can also be seen on stage.
In this new chapter, Xcaret México Espectacular also presents the Pirecua, the traditional music of the Purépecha communities, which reflects their gentle nature and is part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Another vignette represents the Mexican Revolution which took place between 1910 and 1921 and was an armed conflict for the equality of social strata and in search of better conditions for the working class.
Through the huapango, representatives from Querétaro, Veracruz, Tamaulipas, Hidalgo, San Luis Potosí and Puebla show the cultural wealth of the Huasteca region: Six states, one heart. A dancing horse adds an element of magnificence to the Mexican rodeo stage of the show, showing the beauty of this quintessential sport in Mexico.
Xcaret México Espectacular has been enjoyed by more than 14 million spectators since it was created in 1995. Its great success can be attributed to the way it closely depicts the roots and essence of Mexico´s people, customs and traditions.
The Xcaret night show includes the presentation of three expressions that are part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO: The Mariachi band, the Ritual Ceremony of the Voladores (flying men) and the Pirecua. Every piece of clothing represented in the Ancient Mexico portion of the show was created according to graphic testimonies of the original pre-Hispanic attire.
