He was found guilty for obtaining nearly £93,000 through tax fraud. Mr. Hillgrove, 42, of Somerton, Somerset, has denied the allegations over obtaining the money illegally over the period of 12 months. The sentence was handed down at Bristol Crown Court, case number T20137356, following a trial that lasted for weeks. Recorder Robert Linford pointed out the simple fact that Richard Hillgrove could not have afforded the lifestyle he was living based on his salary alone. The trial revealed that Hillgrove took a total of £52,000 of VAT that were charged to his customers, as well as and £41,000 in taxes deducted from the wages of his employees in 2011 and 2012. He used to money to pay for hotels, restaurants and school fees for his children.
