White House Roundtable Leads to New Commitment to Impact Investing
Santa Monica (PRWEB) June 25, 2014 -- At a White House roundtable on impact investing today, Abacus Wealth Partners announced that its clients will commit at least $126 million to impact investments over the next two years. The Abacus initiative is one of more than 20 new private sector commitments to drive more than $1.5 billion into impact investments that intentionally generate financial return as well as measurable social and environmental impact.
As part of the initiative, Abacus will continue to work as an independent financial consultant to wealthy families, foundations and financial advisors to create more customized and fulfilling impact with their financial resources. To encourage the widespread adoption of impact investments, Abacus will make a 100% impact-focused mutual fund model portfolio available for any advisor or individual to use for free.
“Our model portfolio isn’t our secret sauce,” said Abacus CEO Brent Kessel. “Where we really add value is in what we call the Values Integration Process, in which we help a client clarify their social values and integrate them into their investment portfolio.” Abacus doesn’t sell its own products. Rather, it works with best-in-class managers in each asset class to build highly customized solutions tailored to each client’s need for social impact and financial return.
The Abacus commitment to environmental and impact investing goes back more than 20 years. The firm’s past efforts include seed-funding a microfinance private equity fund, which was the best-performing emerging-markets private equity fund for the 2006 vintage year, as well as seed-funding two environmentally screened public equity index funds that currently manage over $580 million (as of 3/31/14).
