100,000 Marylanders to Benefit from Online Energy Saving Game, Fuel Fund, Canton Group Partnership
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) June 26, 2014 -- The Fuel Fund of Maryland selects The Canton Group to build an interactive online game that helps Marylanders lower their energy bills.
Since 2008, Fuel Fund of Maryland’s Watt Watchers program has brought energy saving workshops to thousands of Marylanders at community centers and other locations throughout central Maryland. This new online learning experience will help parents without childcare, people with disabilities, the elderly and many others access the same important learning, like how to understand their energy bill or the optimal thermostat settings. Through group learning and games, participants discover fun and free ways to save energy and make energy conservation a fun and rewarding family experience. “We are thrilled to provide this excellent quality online energy saving curriculum for low-income consumers, to help those who need it most save on their energy bills,” says Mary Ellen Vanni, Executive Director for the Fuel Fund.
Watt Watchers has partnered with Baltimore’s leading web development firm, The Canton Group to build a unique digital experience aimed at engaging Marylanders who are in need of energy bill assistance by providing them with valuable information that will help them change energy related behaviors. The application empowers participants with the tools they need to make their energy bill more affordable.
Developed using a responsive web design, the application will be easily accessible by Marylanders who are using all types of devices including smartphones and tablets to access the internet. The application will leverage the latest in animation, infographics and gamification in order to offer a compelling way for consumers to learn about practical ways they can save on their energy bills. Through each step of the game, participants help the game’s main character Sam save money to buy a special treat. In the end, they make their own pledge for energy savings, and become a certified Watt Watcher.
The online platform is scheduled to be completed by the end of the summer.
