As Seen on TV Outlets LLC, a company that sells extra stock of as-seen-on-tv products, is opening its first brick-and-mortar store. The store will be in a 2,600 square-foot building in Centereach, Long Island.
As Seen on TV Outlets President, Jeff Kadet, says feedback from customers led the company to take the step to open its first branded location.
“Even though having an e-commerce store gives you that benefit of being 'always-on,'” he says, “most people, us included, still like browsing physical products in a store. There's just something about that experience that is irreplaceable, especially the aspect of discovery. So now Long Islanders will be able to shop with us locally, and skip on the delivery charges.” He adds that the company is also planning to let customers order online and pickup in-store.
Kadet says the company is looking to provide “a great shopping experience” that goes beyond what it has established with its website. “This is about more than deeper integration of online and offline commerce. We're building an experience people won't necessarily be expecting,” he says. “We founded our online store with the idea of doing right by our customers and giving them awesome deals. And the very nature of what we sell means our products are unique, useful and often amazing. Our store should be an extension of that.”
“For most people, shopping in a store has become a kind of 'get in, get out' affair, but we'd like to be more like a destination, or at least a respite from the usual humdrum of retail. The products we offer are certainly unusual, so we thought that the feel of the store should offer something unique. We've designed an area that's just for slowing down, with coffee and free Wi-Fi available. People can relax a bit, take a breather. Even if you're focused on the buy, you can sit and find what you want online before going and pulling it off the shelf.”
