Youth for Christ and Houghton College Welcomes Award-Wining Christian Rock Band, Seventh Day Slumber to Play Concert in Wellsville, NY
Wellsville, NY (PRWEB) July 03, 2014 -- The Wellsville, New York airport will be the site of the first ever free Rock the Tarmac music festival featuring national-touring and multi-award winning rock group Seventh Day Slumber as the headliner, with special guest bands, Scarlet White and Backstage Royalty. This event is free and will take place on Thursday, July 17. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Seventh Day Slumber has achieved five No. 1 singles, fourteen Top Ten singles and has sold a combined total of nearly 500,000 albums worldwide.
“How lucky are we to have Seventh Day Slumber performing in Wellsville? Extremely,” said Keith Chase, Executive Director of Southern Tier Youth for Christ. “To have performers of this caliber and popularity coming to our little corner of the world is in many ways a once in a lifetime opportunity. In fact, I believe that this is a God thing for sure.”
This past May, Seventh Day Slumber released their tenth studio album entitled, We Are the Broken, which acquired quick success as it debuted at No. 24 on Billboard magazine’s Christian Albums Chart and also achieved ranking on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart.
The performance venue will be on the tarmac of the Wellsville Municipal Airport located at 2600 Tarantine Road, Wellsville, N.Y. There will also be an array of food and merchandise vendors. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will take place inside the airport hangar, which can accommodate very large crowds.
“[Seventh Day Slumber is] rocking with a definite sense of purpose… a healing message and head-banging rhythms," commented CCM Magazine.
"The words of each of the songs share a powerful message that reaches out to all different ages,” commented CM Addict about Seventh Day Slumber.
When asked why YFC led the charge to bring such an acclaimed rock group to Wellsville, Chase replied, “We want to provide opportunities for people in our area to experience top level acts without going hours away. We want people to say ‘why not here’ rather than ‘nothing ever happens here."
Rock the Tarmac is brought to Wellsville by Southern Tier Youth for Christ (YFC), Houghton College, the Family Life Network, and the Wellsville Area Ministerial Association.
Seventh Day Slumber has long been heralded as a band that refuses to sugarcoat the struggles of real life. Honesty and candor have been trademarks of the band’s front man, Joseph Rojas. Rojas’ path has taken him from the depths of a cocaine-fueled suicide attempt through miraculous salvation in the back of an ambulance to the top of the Christian music charts. As the band has matured over the last 15 years, their relevancy is as strong as ever, and their anthems of praise are even more profound.
In addition to Rojas as the band’s lead singer and guitarist, the group also includes guitarist Jeremy Holderfield, bassist Ken Reed and drummer Blaise Rojas.
