In Midwest flyover country, without beaches and mountains, employers are often challenged with recruiting highly skilled workforce who are unaware of the amenities in Eastern Iowa. Skyworks Solutions, Inc. and ACCIONA Windpower are taking on this challenge by using a recruitment and quality of life website managed by the Iowa City Area Development Group.

Iowa City, and other communities in Iowa's Creative Corridor, are places where you can pick your pace.

"On, we combine customized company profiles with information and videos about our area to help companies recruit out-of-state workers." - DaLayne Williamson, ICAD Group

Two Creative Corridor companies searching for specialized and skilled workers are the latest in a growing list of companies utilizing the website to advertise positions and provide information on their companies.

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. and ACCIONA Windpower in West Branch have customized their own company profile pages with links to careers, information about their companies, and information about life in Iowa’s Creative Corridor.

According to DaLayne Williamson, Iowa City Area Development Group Workforce Business Services Director, the website was launched in 2010 to help interstate commerce companies recruit workforce, often times from outside of the area.

“We hear over and over that companies have trouble recruiting skilled workers because there’s either a negative perception or misbeliefs about living and working in our area,” said Williamson. “We combine customized company profiles with information and videos about Iowa's Creative Corridor to address these concerns.”

Skyworks Solutions’ Cedar Rapids Design Center is using to search for senior engineers interested in the design, test, layout, and prototype for numerous RF solutions used in today’s smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices.

ACCIONA Windpower added their customized page to meet growing demand for its wind turbine technology. The company is currently expanding the team at their North American headquarters in West Branch to provide long-term warranty and post-sales support, condition-based monitoring and 24/7 remote operations to new wind farms.

Both companies will use links to in their recruitment campaigns and material.

Additionally, ICAD Group continues to promote the website to targeted local and external audiences, including University of Iowa alumni.

“We’re looking forward to sharing these opportunities this summer, and we’ll be announcing new partnerships with the University of Iowa Alumni Association prior to football season, helping drive more traffic to our clients on,” added Williamson.
