Greenberg Traurig Summer Associates Help Restore Virginia Key
MIAMI (PRWEB) June 27, 2014 -- Summer associates with the South Florida offices of international law firm Greenberg Traurig participated in a recent community service project to help preserve and restore the endangered, coastal ecosystem on Virginia Key. This project was done in collaboration with the South Florida Association for Law Placement (SFALP) and Citizens for a Better South Florida (CITIZENS).
As part of “ReVive: The Virginia Key Restoration Project,” the group was led on a tour of the nature trail by a City of Miami arborist to learn about the unique history and ecology that make Virginia Key a recognized historic site. Contributing to restoration efforts, the group removed invasive and exotic plant species, participated in a coastline cleanup and replanted native flora in Virginia Key's nursery, coastal hammock and dune areas.
Every year, summer associates at Greenberg Traurig participate in a community service project. This is the second year the program has partnered with CITIZENS and SFALP members, to help restore the natural habitat at Virginia Key. This year’s event included six summer associates from Greenberg Traurig’s offices in Miami and West Palm Beach, as well as staff members. In total, about 70 volunteers representing 16 law firms participated in the event.
SFALP is a professional organization comprised of legal recruiters and human resources personnel from law firms and law schools in South Florida. CITIZENS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to grass-roots, community-based environmental education that aims to inspire citizens to become good stewards of South Florida’s environment.
