Partners at Shafer & Shafer Participate in Legal Webinar Regarding Social Media Evidence
Stamford, CT (PRWEB) June 27, 2014 -- Marisa F. Schafer and Timothy M. Schafer, of The Law Offices of Schafer & Schafer, LLP, a workers’ compensation law firm in Stamford, CT, were called upon to present information as part of an authoritative panel for a legal webinar entitled “Workers’ Compensation and Social Media: An Effective Evidentiary Tool in Defending Claims,” presented on June 25, 2014. This webinar was focused on providing insight into navigating discovery, privacy, admissibility and ethical issues surrounding social media.
The webinar went over various aspects of social media and how the information gathered from sources such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other sources provide evidence of a person’s state of mind, activity level and other information that could be critical evidence in a workers’ compensation case. There are significant ethical issues that were discussed, including privacy matters. Searching social media sources for this personal information has its challenges, and there has been limited guidance from state lawmakers or the courts.
