Wentworth By the Sea Celebrates “Changes in Latitudes” with a Renovated Latitudes Waterfront Restaurant
Portsmouth, NH (PRWEB) June 27, 2014 -- There are as few waterfront dining options in New Hampshire as there are miles of Seacoast. For those who delight in water views and breezes along with their New England seafood, news that Latitudes waterfront restaurant at Wentworth By the Sea Hotel is open following a complete renovation is as welcome as summer weather. Latitudes is open for lunch 11 am to 5 pm and dinner, 5-10 pm.
The new Latitudes retains all of the elements its numerous fans love, along with a new sleeker sensibility in the menu and the décor. Like a seaworthy yacht, the dark wood of the “deck’ flooring and the bright lines of the newly-lightened pale walls and ceiling complement the view overlooking Little Harbor and the marina. The outdoor decks retain their teak and navy accents and will still be among the most popular places for lunch and dinner in all of Portsmouth/New Castle.
Guests who sit at the bar will have a mirrored view of the waterfront, as well as the direct floor-to-ceiling windows for water-gazing. Instead of layers of congested space, the new room opens directly from the entrance. New furnishings and décor accents including sleek portholes, aquarium-like air plants and knotted ropes sustain the nautical theme.
“The new orientation for the interior dining room means more efficient service, smoother navigation for our guests and maximized exposure for the view,” said General Manager Michael O’Shaughnessy. “The new menu in Latitudes reflects the new attitude, too.”
Much as SALT Kitchen + Bar energized the former Wentworth Dining Room by matching ambience to an exciting menu of local options, small plates and casual-to-formal selections, at Latitudes the emphasis is on seafood (while including “Alternatives” such as a sirloin burger, steak, chicken and vegan options). Thanks to an ongoing partnership with Seacoast Fish just up the road, Latitudes can offer the finest selection of the daily catch: day boat scallops and cod, Atlantic tuna and wild salmon and the seemingly ‘secret supply’ of lobster for which Wentworth is famous. Classics from New England clam chowder to one of the best lobster rolls anywhere compete with inspirations like the lobster tail tempura served with nori, wasabi and ponzu sauce and an Atlantic Seafood Stew with PEI mussels, lobster, crabmeat and shrimp in a yellow tomato broth. Echoes of SALT include such popular selections as the local cheese board and spice-dusted tuna topping the Greek salad. The comprehensive beverage menu includes 24 wines by the glass (11 red, 13 white), six locally brewed beers and creative handcrafted cocktails including four different “Oceanside Mojitos” and three custom-designed margaritas.
