South Orange, NJ (PRWEB) June 30, 2014
The Seton Hall University Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) degree program received its initial accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). With this recognition, effective May 20, 2014, the Seton Hall MHA program is the only CAHME-accredited program in New Jersey. CAHME accreditation is the benchmark for students and employers alike, that ensures the integrity of healthcare management education.
"CAHME accreditation means that our programs are academically rigorous, our faculty are seasoned experts, and especially, that we continue to be New Jersey's premier provider of comprehensive healthcare leadership education," says Brian B. Shulman, PhD, Dean of the School of Health and Medical Sciences at Seton Hall University. "Employers in today's competitive job market recognize the CAHME accreditation as a national standard of excellence."
The CAHME accreditation ensures the following for Seton Hall MHA students:
The 42-credit MHA program enrolls more than 100 students each year in its online and on-campus formats. Key topics of study include healthcare finance, healthcare ethics, healthcare economics, healthcare management, and legal issues in healthcare. Alumni of the Seton Hall MHA program include Lydia Stockman, MHA, Assistant Vice President of Operations at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, and Darrell K. Terry Sr., MHA, FACHE, Chief Operating Officer at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children's Hospital of New Jersey.
The CAHME accreditation — which comes as a result of an extensive and stringent application and review process that included an in-depth site visit by members of the CAHME Board of Directors — further enables Seton Hall University to attract quality students and faculty to the MHA program. This commitment to continuous improvement not only means that the student experience will be enhanced, but also that the Seton Hall MHA degree will be highly regarded — benefiting students and graduates well into their careers as healthcare administration professionals.
