New StartWire Data Shows Strong Spike in Confidence for Manufacturing and Production Jobs
Lebanon, NH (PRWEB) June 30, 2014 -- StartWire, America’s #1 job search organizer, today released the May 2014 Job Seeker Confidence Index, reflecting an increase in overall job seeker confidence, with significant growth among job seekers in the Manufacturing and Production sectors.
The Manufacturing and Production sectors showed a +6.33 spike in optimism as the index climbed from 48.06 to 54.39 in May. Since 2010, manufacturers nationwide added 646,000 jobs, a rate of growth twice that of the rest of the economy, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
"Manufacturing jobs continue to grow at a good rate, as consumer and business spending increases. This gain will help support the U.S. economy even after a weak start to the year," said Chris Forman, CEO of StartWire. "While we are still bouncing back from decreased manufacturing job levels, as a result of the Great Recession, we are seeing a big boost in confidence levels from job seekers looking for manufacturing positions."
The May 2014 Job Seeker Confidence Index now stands at 52.36, up from 50.63 in April. The index sits on a scale of 0 – 100, with scores greater than 50 indicating a strong belief amongst job seekers that they will find a job within the next 45 days.
