ReVision Theatre 2014 Summer Includes "Last Five Years" and "Tick, Tick…Boom!"
Asbury Park, NJ (PRWEB) June 29, 2014 -- ReVision Theatre, Asbury Park’s professional regional theatre company devoted to producing fresh theatre with a new perspective, will present two summer productions at Asbury Park's brand-new "Theatre Bar" to kick-off their 2014 season. ReVision's 2014 summer includes "The Last Five Years" featuring Ephie Aardema from Broadway's "Bridges of Madison County," and Rent composer Jonathan Larson's cult classic, "Tick, Tick...BOOM!"
The Last Five Years tells the story of Jamie, a Jewish writer who is in love with “Shiksa Goddess” actress Cathy. As Jamie becomes a bestselling author, Cathy remains a struggling actress, but there’s a catch to this captivating two-person musical. Jamie tells the story from the beginning, while Cathy starts it from the end, and the two meet only for one duet in the middle. The show, which starred Norbert Leo Butz and Sherri Rene Scott when it was off-Broadway in 2002, was “ReImagined” once again off-Broadway last year. A big screen adaptation of the show, starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan, is currently in production.
ReVision’s Cathy will be Ephie Aardema, who has recently worked with Jason Robert Brown on Broadway in last season’s The Bridges of Madison County. Her previous credits include Off-Broadway productions of Dear Edwina (Edwina). National Tour: Fiddler on the Roof (Chava), The Sound of Music (Liesl).
Co-starring as her Jamie is Spiro Galiatsatos, who has previously starred alongside Aardema in ReVision’s production of Hair. Both Aardema and Galiatsatos are members of the Actor’s Equity Association, headquartered in New York City.
The Last Five Years will be directed by Corey Rubel, with music direction by Andrew Hertz, and will run July 11th thru July 27th. Mr. Rubel, an NYU graduate, is known for his work at The New Jersey’s Villagers Theatre in Somerset and the Paper Mill Playhouse in Milburn. Hertz is returning for his fourth show as musical director for ReVision Theatre having last leading "Pippin" in 2013.
ReVision Theatre’s Artistic Director Bob Angelini said, “ReVision Theatre is very excited to be collaborating with such a fresh, young, and abundantly creative cast and crew this summer. Miss Aardema’s and Mr. Galiatsatos’ talent and resume bring ReVision Theatre to a new level of excellence in 2014. We are so happy to be producing professional theatre here in Asbury Park, and look forward to entertaining our supporters in our great little City-By-The Sea.”
"Tick, Tick…Boom!" will be directed by Angelini, ReVision Theatre’s Artistic Director since 2012, and will run August 8th thru 24th at the Theatre Bar.
