Old Family Friends Create New Venture When The Peter Duchin Orchestras with Lead Guitarist/Vocalist Roberta Fabiano and Moscow 57 Join Forces
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 30, 2014 -- Moscow 57, the hospitality and entertainment company that includes Moscow 57 on Delancey, the Russian Central Asian restaurant with live music nightly, announced today that it is now representing The Peter Duchin Orchestras for private and corporate events, concert and night club engagements.
This brings things full circle as Moscow 57 co-owner Ellen Kaye grew up knowing Peter all her life. Ellen's parents, Sidney Kaye and Faith Stewart-Gordon owned the Russian Tea Room from 1947-1996. "Peter was a regular at the Tea Room," said Ellen, "and I feel like we grew up together."
This arrangement came together when Roberta Fabiano, lead guitarist and vocalist for the Peter Duchin Orchestras began performing at Moscow 57. After some late night after-gig talks, a meeting with Peter was set up and the deal was sealed.
Since his debut in 1962, Peter Duchin has led America's preeminent dance band. The orchestra has performed at White House State Dinners, Inaugural Balls, for England's Royal family, movie premieres, charity galas, proms, charity events, and, of course, weddings. The orchestra has traveled the globe from London to Paris, from Venice to Vancouver and from South Africa to Hong Kong, playing more than 400 performances a year.
From the beginning, Duchin and his musicians have been unique in commanding a repertoire that embraces every style of popular music from jazz to show tunes, big band swing to rock. For more than 50 years, Peter has been upholding the elegant tradition of pianist/bandleaders launched by his father, the legendary Eddy Duchin, in the 1930's when he reigned at the Central Park Casino as America's most glamorous band leader.
Roberta Fabiano has performed for Presidents Reagan, Ford, Clinton and both Bushes, for Queen Elizabeth's wedding anniversary and Prince Edward's birthday, Nellie McKay, Mary Cleere Haran, Jennifer Holiday, Sarah Jessica Parker and many others. She is the Grand Prize Winner of the New York Songwriter Showcase, co-wrote three songs with Doc Pomus and had a song featured in the DVD of the movie "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill." Roberta has appeared with peter Duchin and the band in the films "Working Girl" and "Jade," and numerous television shows. She has been a long-lead guitarist and lead vocalist with the Peter Duchin Orchestra, and has sung the national anthem for the New York Rangers and the New York Islanders. She is listed in "Who's Who in American Women," "Who's Who in America," "Who's Who in Entertainment" and "Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America." A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Roberta has performed on numerous albums.
Moscow 57, the hospitality and entertainment company, was launched several years ago by partners Ellen Kaye, Seth Goldman and Ethan Fein. For the past two years, the company has been hosting its M57 Urban Salons, evenings of music, food and digital visual art displays, in Harlem; Washington Heights; Chelsea; the Upper East Side; the East Village; Governors Island; New Milford, Connecticut; and New Orleans. Moscow 57 has made New Orleans a home away from home, with regular forays into that city's world-renowned culture of Southern hospitality, regional cuisine, and world-class entertainment. After performing at and co-producing events with New York's Corcho Wine Room, as well as celebrating Latin American culture in New Orleans, this cosmopolitan attitude is being brought to Moscow 57's permanent home on New York City's Lower East Side every night.
Moscow 57 Entertaining, created in partnership with Ethan Fein, is developing projects for film, television and theater. Its music company produces podcasts, live performances, recordings and videos. Moscow 57's first CD releases have already garnered national radio airplay, and the company's videos can be seen on the Moscow57Entertaining YouTube channel. The company's M57 podcast will be streaming live on Sunday nights.
