Cinsay Receives U.S. Patent Grant for Interactive Product Placement Within Video Commerce Technology
Austin, TX (PRWEB) July 22, 2014 -- Cinsay, the leader in syndicatable video commerce technology for web and mobile, has been granted another strategic U.S. patent for ‘Interactive Product Placement System and Method’ as it relates to the company’s evolving technology platform, which enables merchants to sell directly to consumers inside a video player.
Cinsay continues to grow its extensive portfolio of intellectual property and pending patent applications that are key components to Cinsay’s business model of hosting and delivering sharable, syndicatable videos in social networks with built-in eCommerce, donations for non-profits, couponing and lead generation features.
“This particular patent is very important to our suite of technologies as it provides merchants, sponsors, brands and agencies a new and powerful tool for not only marketing but also selling – with an immediate call to action ability,” said Christian Briggs, founder and CEO of Cinsay.
“Brands from BMW to McDonald’s to Apple spend millions each year incorporating products and services into film and episodic programming. Now those brands will be enabled to connect with consumers and make sales instantly within the video – that’s a much better ROI position,” Briggs added.
Based on previous and current merchant accounts, Cinsay has proven that its syndicatable video eCommerce technology in many cases contributes too much higher conversions than traditional marketing and static eCommerce sites. As an example, SureToneLive.com, powered by Cinsay, hosted a live concert with the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band. The event was streamed in real-time over the Internet and sold tens of thousands of dollars in VIP fan packages and merchandise in less than three hours. All sales were inside the Cinsay video player with direct purchasing capabilities and shareable within social media. Final statistics revealed a staggering conversion rate of 6.8%.
Cinsay’s priority is in developing and evolving eCommerce technologies that create similar types of success for other consumer channels in music, film, sports and shopping. The new patent addition, which is part of this next step, is detailed in the abstract below.
Patent No. 8,782,690 for an “INTERACTIVE PRODUCT PLACEMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD”
Abstract: A method for presenting advertisements for commercial products in video productions, whereby the commercial product is placed in the video production as an element of the video production. A viewer is enabled to interact with the video production to select the product. Information is then displayed about the selected product; and the viewer is enabled to purchase the selected product.
This patent relates to another use of Cinsay’s interactive product roll bar. Among other aspects, the patent describes a transacting video advertising system and associated user interface (UI) design for displaying online video media. Rather than breaking videos up with fixed inline advertisements, related products or services are shown in a product roll/timeline in or adjacent to the video display area. They are shown as visual cues such as icons, images or logos that represent advertisements for products or services related to items in the video. The UI allows retrieval of additional information about these associated products or services from the product roll. It also supports time-based Cue points such that icons appear in the product roll/timeline at appropriate times during video play.
Other external criteria can also be used to determine when product roll icons appear. The UI can display advertisement details and supplemental product information in overlays on the video display area using various transparency types or independent from the video display area. The patent also describes how users interact with these overlay elements to complete transactions with remote services.
Cinsay continues to develop software and technology, which is leading next-generation eCommerce, transactions, interactions and social media for businesses and nonprofits.
