Kinvey Launches Mobile Identity Connect to Provide Secure Single Sign-On Services for Enterprises
Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 01, 2014 -- Kinvey (http://www.kinvey.com), the leading enterprise Mobile Backend as a Service (MBaaS) platform, today launched Mobile Identity Connect, a service that enables mobile developers to seamlessly secure mobile, tablet, and responsive Web apps with any enterprise identity system. By leveraging proven mobile standards, Kinvey Mobile Identity Connect eliminates the complexity of authenticating mobile apps with existing enterprise identity systems such as LDAP, Active Directory, Oracle Identity Manager, and even homegrown systems.
Traditional enterprise identity protocols like Kerberos and LDAP were designed with persistent connections for web and desktops in mind, and were not designed to securely manage the online/offline experience of mobile apps. Kinvey Mobile Identity Connect manages the mobile security layer and provides mobile SSO for the enterprise using Kinvey’s AuthLink Connector technology to bridge existing enterprise identity into a mobile-friendly OAuth-2 authentication flow.
AuthLink Connectors provide a secure, flexible, and extensible means to create mobile apps with the enterprise-grade security that organizations demand for their applications. Kinvey Mobile Identity Connect makes mobile authentication easy, empowering developers with secure, pre-built mobile identity management, freeing them to focus on user experience and enabling new mobile use cases. IT departments get a controlled and secure self-service platform for app development with the four key features required for all mobile applications: identity management, data services, business logic, and engagement services.
Mobile Identity Connect was built with access to data in mind. Mobile Identity Connect secures access to enterprise data accessed through Kinvey's DataLink Connectors. It manages the handshake between the mobile app, the identity system, and enterprise data, ensuring that existing security policies are maintained and data can be consumed by the mobile app in a consistent manner across identity and data sources.
“Most enterprise-grade identity and single sign-on systems were designed in a pre-mobile world, and don’t take the unique challenges of mobile technology into account,” said Sravish Sridhar, CEO of Kinvey. “Kinvey Mobile Identity Connect provides enterprise mobile developers an OAuth-to-anything connector to enable enterprise-grade security with authentication protocols designed with mobile in mind. Mobile developers don’t want to deal with the complexity of tying directly into identity systems that were not designed for mobile every time they build an app.”
“Forrester clients are struggling with an [Identity Access Management] IAM landscape that increasingly crosses enterprise boundaries,” writes Eve Maler, Principal Analyst at Forrester Research, in the Navigate The Future Of Identity And Access Management report. “They tell us: ‘We can’t just “Kerberize” our apps anymore. If we keep on doing security in domains, it’s pointless.’”
Built on the leading MBaas platform, Kinvey Mobile Identity Connect addresses these challenges with its unique combination of mobile client libraries, cloud services, and AuthLink Connectors, while preserving the existing enterprise system as the sole repository of secure user identity.
