Macy’s South Coast Plaza will be welcoming Ramadan & Eid in store this June and July with displays that are being designed by the celebration company modernEID. The impetus for this was the recommendation of Macy’s employees who wanted to recognize their large group of Middle Eastern & Muslim customers. The store welcomed this opportunity showing they care about honoring diversity.
This collaboration was kicked off with a “Welcome Ramadan” celebration in-store on June 25th from 2-6pm in the Women’s Cosmetics department at Macy’s South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. Customers were treated to music and refreshments while shopping their favorite brands. Tom Ford, Versace, and Christian Dior fragrances were highlighted in the displays. The event was open to the public.
There is a great deal of buzz and excitement surrounding the impending collaboration. “We are so honored to be a part of this momentous occasion,” ModernEID founder Jomana Siddiqui said, “ModernEID's mission was to bring contemporary Eid decor to the American marketplace and the support from Macy's is bringing this vision to reality.” It is the first time that a major retailer has featured Muslim holiday decorations from an up and coming small business, and it bodes well for a more welcoming, open shopping experience for those both of the Muslim faith – and everyone else.
