WholeFoods Magazine Announces Retailer of the Year

GreenAcres Market announced as 2014 Retailer of the Year award winner by distinguished national trade magazine.

WholeFoods Magazine, one of the country’s most distinguished trade publications for natural products retailers, has announced GreenAcres Market as its 2014 Retailer of the Year. This prestigious industry award, now in its 25th year, recognizes those natural product retailers that have a business philosophy that focuses on innovation and strong customer service. The business practices of GreenAcres Market, says WholeFoods Magazine’s president, are in keeping with the overall spirit of this award.

Founded by husband and wife team Barbara and John Hoffmann, GreenAcres Market began with a personal desire of Barbara’s to find natural solutions for her chronic back pain. As she learned more about natural foods and other products, Barbara became a passionate believer in the connection between healthy food, healthy products, and a healthy body; and she wanted to educate others about this connection. GreenAcres Market was born as a result.

Far ahead of the current mainstream demand for fresh, organic food and wellness products, GreenAcres Market started with one store and a desire to deliver (previously difficult to find) natural products to interested shoppers. Today, GreenAcres Markets includes eight stores in Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The store’s core mission has remained the same throughout its growth, including a focus on quality education, dedicated customer service, fresh, natural, and organic products, a unique shopping experience, and—most importantly—a commitment to helping people take control of their health. These core practices are much of the reason that GreenAcres Markets was chosen as WholeFoods Magazine’s 2014 Retailer of the Year award.
