CarePoint Health – Hoboken University Medical Center Recognized as a Top Hospital in Women’s Health
Hoboken, NJ (PRWEB) July 01, 2014 -- CarePoint Health – Hoboken University Medical Center today announced that it has been recognized for both the Healthgrades Maternity Care Excellence Award and Five-Star Recipient for Maternity Care, as measured by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. The distinction places CarePoint Health – Hoboken University Medical Center within the top 10% of all hospitals evaluated for the exceptional care provided to mothers (during and after childbirth) and to their newborn children.
To help consumers evaluate and compare hospital performance in maternity care, Healthgrades analyzed patient outcome data for virtually every hospital in the 17 states that provide all-payer state data for years 2010 through 2012. Healthgrades found that the variation in hospital performance can make a difference in terms of clinical outcomes. Its report highlights that patients treated at 5-star rated hospitals had 54.3% fewer complications during a vaginal childbirth delivery and 77.5% fewer during a C-section delivery than those treated at 1-star rated hospitals.
“We are very proud of our OB staff at Hoboken University Medical Center. Our physicians are dedicated to providing state of the art obstetrical care, and working as part of the team. This honor certainly represents the positive impact Hoboken University Medical Center has on our community,” said Ann P. Logan RN, Interim Operating Officer and VP Patient Care Services of CarePoint Health – Hoboken University Medical Center.
“It is important for women to have confidence in their choice of a healthcare provider. The Healthgrades 2014 Women’s Health Award recipients have achieved this distinction by demonstrating an established commitment to clinical care and providing better than expected outcomes in women’s health over an extended period of time,” said Evan Marks, Executive Vice President, Informatics and Strategy, Healthgrades. “Choosing one of these hospitals can help provide piece of mind to women that they are making the right decision for their healthcare.”
