Carteret General Hospital Chooses Access’s Paperless Clinical Content Bridge Solution to Get Medical Device Output into MEDITECH EHRs

Like most hospitals, Carteret General manually processed medical device output to get it into patients’ electronic health records (EHRs). This involved time-consuming scanning and indexing, taking time away from other tasks and delaying the availability of images to clinicians. To overcome these challenges, Carteret General selected a clinical content bridge solution from Access.

“Finding Access was like discovering the Holy Grail when it comes to getting medical device output into our MEDITECH EHR,” said Rebecca Callaway, Systems Analyst at Carteret General. “It will help us close the gaps between the EHR and our medical devices and clinical systems.”

Until now, three full-time staff members in Carteret General’s HIM department have spent most of their time scanning medical device output into MEDITECH. With Access’s system, the output from virtually any medical device and clinical system that can output a PDF will go directly and electronically into the correct patient’s chart— with no paper output or manual effort.
