Genscape’s Acquisition of Energytics Drives New ERCOT Congestion Revenue Rights Opportunities & Insights Service
Austin, TX (PRWEB) July 01, 2014 -- Genscape’s newest power market analytics service extends the company’s analytics and information capability beyond its traditional real-time to short-term focus by now offering market participants a nodal power flow and congestion outlook for the ERCOT Congestion Revenue Rights (CRR) auctions. This new offering combines fundamentals based forecasts with historic data mining and the expertise of Genscape’s analyst teams to identify actionable trade paths and hedging strategies without the need for custom software programs or hours of analysis.
“For the first time, traders are able to gain visibility in this opaque market to inform their models and hone their analysis efforts,” explained Chris Seiple, Managing Director of Power. “Our new analytics platform built by Energytics and the resulting service will transform the way ERCOT CRR market participants profit and will open the door for smaller shops to perform better without costly software programs and supporting staff to run it.”
The monthly report, along with optional detailed datasets, is delivered before the ERCOT CRR monthly auction opens and contains granular detail on:
•the factors driving congestion,
•constraints that are likely to bind,
•recommended bid pair trades that harvest the constraints,
•historical analysis of bid pair trade performance,
•and any noteworthy market events to consider.
Energytics tested its analytic platform over a year long period at three hedge funds prior to the acquisition by Genscape. “The Nodal Insights platform was making very profitable recommendations prior to the acquisition by Genscape. We’re very impressed by how our platform, when combined with Genscape’s data and analyst expertise, now performs even better,” said Justin Rasberry, a founder of Energytics and now Senior Director of Nodal Insights at Genscape.
Recent enhancements to the service now also allow generators and load serving entities to use the same service to make better hedging decisions. These enhancements include identifying the top 10 constraint risks for each:
•Load Zone to Load Zone paths
•Hub to Hub paths and
•Load Zone to Hub paths
