Monroe College School of Business & Accounting MBA and Undergraduate Degree Programs Receive Initial Accreditation From ACBSP
Bronx, NY (PRWEB) July 01, 2014 -- Monroe College, a national leader in urban and international education, today announced that its School of Business & Accounting has received initial accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) for its MBA, associate and bachelor degree programs. The school was honored at the ACBSP’s annual accreditation conference in Chicago this past weekend, on June 28-29.
Monroe offers associate’s degree programs in accounting and business administration, and bachelor’s degree programs in accounting, general business and business management. Monroe also offers an MBA program through its King Graduate School, which includes concentrations in finance, entrepreneurship, marketing, healthcare management and information technology.
Programs remain accredited for ten years after the ACBSP grants initial accreditation. To receive accreditation, schools must first apply for ACBSP membership and have regional accreditation. Schools are also required to complete a self-study, demonstrating their commitment to improvement, innovation and scholarship, which is followed by a site visit and period of evaluation. Monroe became a member of the ACBSP in 2010, and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The school is also authorized by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York to grant certificates, associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
“Receiving accreditation from the ACBSP further demonstrates our success and expertise in providing students with a quality, practical education that prepares them for a fulfilling and long-term career,” said Linda Silva Thompson, Dean of Monroe’s School of Business & Accounting and the King Graduate School MBA Program. “Many of our graduates have gone on to apply the entrepreneurial and problem-solving skills they developed at Monroe to start their own businesses and achieve notable career success in the corporate world.”
Monroe College’s School of Business & Accounting empowers students for careers as accountants and business managers. Taught by a faculty of certified accounting and taxation professionals, as well senior business executives, students receive instruction on the principles of accounting, taxation, cost accounting, marketing, project management, e-commerce and human resources. Students also gain valuable real-world experience by joining Monroe’s award-winning ENACTUS team, working at the Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence or interning at a well-known corporation. The school is a member of the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society, a group that promotes, recognizes and rewards scholastic achievement in business education.
