Greenberg Traurig Sponsors High School Student for Law Day 2014; Attorney Jason Edgecombe Presents Scholarship During Ceremony
ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) July 08, 2014 -- The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, recently sponsored Andrew Agrippina, a high school student at Holy Spirit Preparatory School, during the Law Day 2014 award ceremony in Atlanta. Jason R. Edgecombe, an associate in the White Collar Criminal Defense practice of the firm’s Atlanta office, presented Agrippina with a scholarship to Washington Workshops’ Congressional Seminar on national politics and government.
Agrippina was one of five recipients of the Future Leaders of America Washington Workshops scholarship and the sole recipient of the Greenberg Traurig scholarship. Scholarships cover round trip airfare, tuition, room and board, and transportation to attend the Washington Workshops’ Congressional Seminar in Washington, D.C. Workshop participants will study national politics and government over the summer.
“These kinds of events are vital to the legal community and are particularly significant to the younger generation of aspiring lawyers in that they provide insight into the pivotal role that law plays in our day-to-day lives,” said Edgecombe. “It’s a privilege to present Andrew with this scholarship and hopefully instill in him the mentorship and dedication that I too needed in my early education years. Students need to realize that they also have a voice in democracy, and that the legal community wants to hear it.”
The American Bar Association first observed Law Day in 1957. One year later President Dwight D. Eisenhower established Law Day as a day of national dedication to the principles of government under law. Today, Law Day is a national day set aside to celebrate the rule of law, to recognize the role of the courts in our democracy and to establish the importance of jury service and maintaining the integrity of the courts.
