New Vail Summer Bluegrass Series Brings Music to Colorado’s Rocky Mountains with Special Antlers at Vail Hotel Lodging Deal
Vail, CO (PRWEB) June 30, 2014 -- The string-pickin’ strains of top bluegrass musicians will join the familiar sounds of jazz and orchestral numbers floating through the Vail Valley this summer as the new Vail Summer Bluegrass Series debuts July 2 in Vail Square at Lionshead Village in Vail, Colo. The series marks the entry of the lively, acoustic, exquisitely blended sounds of bluegrass into the town’s renowned summer arts and cultures scene that already features Bravo! Vail and the Vail Jazz Festival. As a Vail Summer Bluegrass Series sponsor, the Antlers at Vail hotel is offering lodging specials for bluegrass fans starting from $144/night.
“We’re so excited to have bluegrass joining Vail’s multiple summer concerts – many of them free and a short walk from the Antlers – that our guests can enjoy,” says Rob LeVine, general manager of Antlers at Vail. “And as a sponsor and the Official Hotel of the Vail Summer Bluegrass Series, we’ll be housing all of the musicians at the Antlers as well. Who knows … our guests might even get the chance to see these popular musicians behind the scenes.”
The series, held on select Wednesdays through July and August, taps the unique bluegrass sound -- a blend of country, folk and traditional American genres with origins in the 1600s -- and national and local artists. First up: the traditional yet 21st- century stylings of the Travelin’ McCourys, sons of Bluegrass Hall-of-Famer Del McCoury and top talent known for stretching standard bluegrass boundaries. The McCourys will be joined by Colorado celebrity guitarist Bill Nershi of the popular The String Cheese Incident.
Additional concerts in the series feature the estimable Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band on July 16 with opener Thunder and Rain, and prodigy Sarah Jarosz on August 13. The finale features Trout Steak Revival opening for Leftover Salmon’s Drew Emmitt playing with his acoustic-only Drew Emmit Band on August 27.
“You can turn 360 degrees and find bluegrass just about anywhere in Colorado, and it’s just a good fit for Vail,” said Ariel Rosemberg, the bluegrass series’ promoter, producer and founder, in a recent interview with Vail Daily. “It’s about the lifestyle. So much credit goes to those first big festivals, the ones like Telluride Bluegrass, who have made it automatic to associate bluegrass with Colorado. They go hand in hand.”
Performances start at 5 p.m. MST and are available at no charge, with an option to buy preferred seating tickets. The Vail summer Bluegrass Series is presented by Lakeside Stride of Denver and the Town of Vail. For more information, visit the Vail Summer Bluegrass Series website at http://www.vailbluegrass.com/.
Once the last notes have danced off into the night, concert-goers can step lively across the square to the Antlers at Vail hotel. Acclaimed for its comfort and top-notch customer service, the hotel is offering a lodging special in conjunction with the bluegrass series. Lodging rates are available from $144/night for a Suite Studio Condo to $336/night for a three-bedroom/three-bath suite on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday before and after the Vail Summer Bluegrass Series concerts only.
