Blue Box Promotes Alvarez to Chief Product Officer Post
Seattle, Wash. (PRWEB) July 01, 2014 -- The next step in the ongoing strategic expansion at Blue Box has moved the company’s cloud operations veteran to the position of chief product officer (CPO).
Hernan Alvarez, formerly the company’s vice president of operations and product, has been named to a new role that comprises product management, engineering, customer implementations, technical operations and customer operations. This breadth of responsibility reflects the primary differentiators of Blue Box Cloud: operational efficiency, performance, reliability and customer confidence.
Blue Box is a Seattle-based provider of OpenStack-powered PCaaS delivered on-demand on dedicated, bare-metal hardware.
Alvarez joined Blue Box in May of 2013, and his first task was to build upon the engineering team’s early work on the company’s OpenStack-powered product. He re-engineered the team, which then built the Blue Box Cloud product and released it to early access customers in September of that year. By May of 2014, Blue Box Cloud was released into general availability.
Prior to Blue Box, Alvarez served in several operations roles at HP, including senior director of architecture and operations. He ran operations for HP’s OpenStack public cloud, recently re-branded as HP Helion. Additionally, he was the principal operational architect for HP’s OpenStack private cloud product, delivering services to Fortune 500® customers and large service providers. Before joining HP, Alvarez served in key leadership roles with a focus on cloud and agile infrastructure operations at WhitePages, Snapvine, Farecast, Mobliss and AdRelevance.
