Grand Forks, ND (PRWEB) July 02, 2014
VirtualAgility announces the official launch of its VirtualAirBoss™ information sharing solution at the 8th UAS Action Summit sponsored by the Red River Research Corridor in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
VirtualAirBoss is designed to serve the end-to-end needs of owners, operators, manufacturers and pilots of manned and unmanned aircraft. This real-time information sharing and storage tool serves UAS pilots as a Virtual LogBook, flight scheduler, and data repository; UAS manufacturers as their supply chain, maintenance, and equipment certification system; and UAS owner/operators as a flight planner, scheduler, and record-keeping system.
“Grand Forks is the ideal location to launch a UAS-oriented product,” said Stuart Rudolph, President and CEO of VirtualAgility. The FAA selected the Northern Plains UAS Test site as one of just six test sites in the US to gather official data regarding commercialization of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). North Dakota is at the forefront in using UAS for precision agriculture and other surveillance, and the state government visionaries strongly support entrepreneurs through their Innovation Centers and other University affiliated programs. “This is a winning combination for launching the VirtualAirBoss at the UAS Summit, and locating the main office at the UND (University of North Dakota) Innovation Center.”
The UAS summit this year focused on "Integration and Commercialization on the Northern Plains" to explore important issues facing the continued development of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems industry, growth of supporting industries, and numerous applications that are poised to change lives across the globe. Topics and applications include airspace integration strategies, the role of Unmanned Systems in shaping the face of precision agriculture, privacy and legal concerns, platform development, sense and avoid, technology development.
“VirtualAirBoss is the right product at the right time,” says Doug MacDonald, Director of Special Projects at UAI International, a 501(c)3 nonprofit research and applications institute created to advance the unmanned systems industry in North Dakota and the Northern Plains region. “There are so many supporting industries growing up around this emerging commercial UAS market, and what they need more than anything else right now, and long into the future, is a way to manage all the data – payloads, equipment, crew, and flight data. VirtualAirBoss is a great way to manage all that data.”
VirtualAirBoss is essentially a Virtual LogBook for pre-flight scheduling, weather predictions and patterns, NOTAMS, TFRs, aeronautical and terrain maps, waypoints, routes, and all the payload data captured during the flight. And then, post flight, the critical data elements that were captured can inform the billing system, automating much of the business process. And all this data is stored in a secure environment that keeps your data private, secure and available only to trusted partners, colleagues, clients, and value-added analytical tools by discretionary access permissions.
“No one else is doing this,” says Eddie Kisfaludy, CEO of SciFly, an aerial surveillance company in San Diego. “Bringing all these functions into one place, and automating the administrative and scribe functions can free me to do what I love most – fly my aircraft to serve my customers.”
VirtualAirBoss is a complete, flexible and expandable online tool to collect, store, and manage all aspects of UAS operations data, from equipment, crew, flights, payload, and analytics, to billing customers. Now you can economically consolidate, manage and store all the UAS information you collect, and easily create reports for various business purposes from a single data source – VirtualAirBoss.
