AVL Awards $50,000 Grant to the SAE Foundation to Support STEM Education
Warrendale, PA (PRWEB) July 02, 2014 -- AVL has awarded $50,000 to the SAE Foundation in support of the Foundation’s mission of encouraging and increasing student participation and achievement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). AVL’s gift will support SAE International’s K-16 continuum of STEM education programs and help expose young people to the possibilities that exist in STEM-related careers, building a pipeline of future engineers, scientists and innovators.
“In order to succeed in the society of tomorrow, all young people need to understand and apply STEM concepts in a real-world integrated setting. Participating in programs such as SAE International’s A World In Motion®, F1 in Schools™ or Collegiate Design Series™ teaches them to solve complex problems, communicate clearly, raise questions, assimilate information and work cooperatively toward common goals. We are grateful to AVL for its support of critically important STEM programming,” commented Lori Gatmaitan, Director, SAE Foundation.
“AVL understands the critical importance of high-quality STEM education and we support the SAE Foundation’s efforts in this area. SAE’s programs are effective and provide excellent results, helping to build the future STEM-education workforce that companies such as AVL need,” said Chester S. Ricker, EVP and CFO, AVL.
