Boldmere St Michaels v Aston Villa
Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands (PRWEB UK) 4 July 2014 -- Boldmere St Michaels Football Club will take on their Premier League neighbours Aston Villa at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground on Wednesday 16 July 2014. Kick off at The Mikes’ Church Road ground is 7:30pm.
This is the sixth year that the match has taken place, and previous encounters have seen the likes of Andi Weimann on the scoresheet. Last year, Gordon Cowans and Stiliyan Petrov oversaw their development squad’s 6-3 victory, as a bumper crowd including Lions Boss Paul Lambert saw Daniel Johnson and Jack Grealish get amongst the goals.
The Mikes are also using the event to introduce their brand new under 9s team, and the youngsters will act as mascots for the home side. It is hoped this will pave the way for other boys and girls to join the club, and will act as a feeder leading into the senior team. Developing the youth set up will help to strengthen club membership and is also a way of giving something back to the local community.
The Mikes Football Chairman Rob Clarke said, “We are delighted to have our new junior side on board. This fixture is always a special occasion and is the perfect opportunity to welcome the boys and their families to the club. Being mascots should add to their enjoyment of the occasion and demonstrate that they are becoming a full part of the Boldmere family. Our relationship with Aston Villa is hugely important to us and we are very grateful to the club for continuing to support this fixture, which is vital to a club like ours. We also have special offers on all season for Villa supporters and hope as many fans as possible to come back to visit us during the season”.
Admission to the match is just £5 for adults and as for all Boldmere St Michaels home matches, accompanied under 12s are admitted free of charge. Turnstiles and bars will open at 6.30pm.
