Greenberg Traurig’s William R. Clayton Inducted to the Board of Directors of the Broward County Bar Association
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (PRWEB) July 03, 2014 -- William R. Clayton, a Shareholder and Co-Chair of the Real Estate Litigation Practice at the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Broward County Bar Association (BCBA). A member of the BCBA since 2009, Clayton took office on July 1 and will serve a term of two years.
The BCBA, a not-for-profit organization, was founded in 1925 to “foster courtesy, ethics, and professionalism among lawyers, to educate the citizens of Broward County on their legal rights, and to provide necessary legal services to Broward County’s residents,” according to the group.
“I am honored and excited for the opportunity to serve in this position, and look forward to working closely with the Board and Executive Director Braulio Rosa to continue the partnership approach with minority and other bar associations in the county to help with program ideas and increase the bar’s membership,” Clayton said.
At Greenberg Traurig, Clayton focuses his practice on commercial litigation and is frequently retained as lead trial counsel by NYSE and Nasdaq companies (on plaintiff and defense sides). He maintains a national civil trial practice, having tried more than 100 cases in state and federal courts, and has won more than $100 million in jury verdicts for both plaintiff and the defense.
Clayton is deeply involved in the legal industry and the community. He is a member and former president of the Fort Lauderdale Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the former chair of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, and a member of numerous legal professional and community organizations.
Throughout his career, Clayton has received numerous awards and accolades. Recently, these have included being nominated for 2014Defense Lawyer of the Year for State of Florida by American Board of Trial Advocates, Fort Lauderdale Chapter; listed in The Best Lawyers in America under Commercial Litigation; Litigation – Construction, Litigation - Intellectual Property, and Litigation - Real Estate from 2010 to 2014; listed in the South Florida Legal Guide’s "Top Lawyers in South Florida" for Litigation 2012 to 2014; and being listed in Florida Super Lawyers magazine from 2009 to 2014, and among its "Top 100 Attorneys in Miami" in 2011.
Clayton received a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University.
