From now through September, Peter Dills will be interviewing great chefs, capturing their excitement about the arrival of “Walla Walla Sweet Onion Season”, and sharing the inventive recipes the chefs now get to feature in their restaurants using “America’s Original Sweet Onion.” He will be promoting these Walla Walla Sweet Onion events on his AM 830 KLAA Talk Radio Show and on his “Dining with Dills” TV Review Show eWebcast on Charter Channel 188.
“We are thrilled to have such a respected food authority teaming up with us and our sweet onions and demonstrating how they enhance summertime food favorites,” says Keystone’s Kurt Schweitzer, “Peter has a large audience of engaged food enthusiasts that hang on his every word, review and recommendation, and now ‘America’s Original Sweet Onion’ will become one of their must have ingredients to make ordinary recipes extraordinary.”
Walla Walla Sweet Onions are just now being delivered to west coast supermarkets. Grown exclusively in the Walla Walla Valley just north of the Oregon border in Washington, these onions have repeatedly earned the Certified Extra Sweet® distinction from one of the nation’s most reputable flavor labs. The rich, low sulfur volcanic soil and perfect climate of the Walla Walla Valley create the unique growing environment that produces these moist, mild, flavorful and sweet onions.
Among other culinary celebrities, Mr. Dills will be interviewing Chef Sam Elias from “Sam’s By The Beach” to learn of and broadcast his favorite recipes using Walla Walla Sweet Onions. Safeway & Vons Executive Chef, Jeff Anderson, will be sharing his grilled “Walla Walla BOLT” sandwich, and POP recipes will be available in Vons stores. “I love this team, “ says Peter, “ I get to rub elbows with some of the best chefs in the country who just happen to think that Walla Walla Onions are as unique and delicious as I do, and give my audiences information they will really use and appreciate. How sweet it is!”
Supporting the live events and on-air programming will be a sponsored radio drive time reports in both Los Angeles and the Pacific Northwest proclaiming how Walla Walla Sweet Onions enhance summertime food favorites. Transit shelter ads near supermarkets will remind consumers to look for “America’s Original Sweet Onion” on their next visit. Chef invented Walla Walla recipes will be available on both the Walla Walla and Progressive Produce’s Progressive Recipes website as well as in store.
