Gilbane Building Company Selected for Repeat Work at The University of Chicago Medicine
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 07, 2014 -- Gilbane Building Company has been awarded the construction management at-risk contract by The University of Chicago Medicine for the 3rd and 4th Floor Patient Room project.
The $80 million, 204,000 SF project will include the build-out of the 3rd and 4th floors in the Center for Care and Discovery building located at 5700 South Maryland Avenue. This complex renovation project will convert vacant space into patient room floors in an active hospital environment on a tight urban site.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with The University of Chicago Medicine on the 3rd and 4th Floor Build-out project and offer our extensive knowledge of the site from our past success delivering the CCD project,” says Tony Tysinger, Project Executive at Gilbane Building Company. “We will leverage our knowledge of the building as well as valuable lessons learned and best practices from our previous work at CCD to ensure a successful delivery of this important project.”
Gilbane also served as the construction manager at-risk, in a joint venture with W.E. O’Neil, on the 1.2 million SF, 11-story Center for Care and Discovery building, which will be the site of the 3rd and 4th Floor Patient Room project. The Center for Care and Discovery project was designed by Rafael Viñoly and was completed on time and on budget. The success of the Center for Care and Discovery project has resulted in a superior client satisfaction and repeat work on UCM’s campus.
