Crowdfunding to ramp up the African diasporas’ contribution to development at US-Africa Investment Symposium in Washington, D.C.
US (PRWEB UK) 4 July 2014 -- On August 4th, the International diaspora Engagement Alliance (IdEA), Developing Markets Associates (DMA), Homestrings and Small Enterprise Assistance Fund (SEAF), will jointly host the Africa Diaspora Investment Symposium. The morning event of the symposium will highlight the tremendous potential of crowdfunding and other investment channels for the African diaspora to support economic growth. The afternoon event of the symposium will be for accredited investors only and allow them to access investible projects across Sub-Saharan Africa and directly invest, live, using the Homestrings investment platform, Homestrings.com.
This event will gather change makers from the global diaspora, the private sector, civil society and non-profit organisations to engage in discussions on how to leverage the potential of the African diaspora through investment and entrepreneurship. New programs will be announced, which directly engage the African diaspora to play a significant role in supporting economic growth across Africa.
The African Diaspora Investment Symposium aims to build, in part, on the success of the Diaspora Investment Series held in London, UK. To date the series has successfully raised investment commitments of over $100m, reinforcing the message that the diaspora can play a material role in funding economic development.
The day-long event will take place in the Pavilion Room at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington DC.
