Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) July 10, 2014 -- RCSPros, LLC, a Colorado Springs-based company specializing in Electronic Health Record (EHR) technology for assisted living facilities, today announces plans to sell the company.
Founded in 2011, the company’s flagship product, RCS, is an easy-to-use web-based tool that replaces the error-prone and inefficient paper processes on which assisted living facilities have traditionally relied. Using RCS, senior care facilities can streamline communication and significantly improve data sharing among caregivers, administrators, and providers, resulting in a plethora of new benefits, including reduced care and medication errors, higher quality of life for assisted living residents, lower facility care costs, and increased staff productivity.
RCS was developed with gerontology experts at University of Colorado in Colorado Springs (UCCS), and Dunn and Associates, former owner/operators of the award-winning Palisades assisted living, memory care, and independent living facility. Collaborating with Dr. Sara Qualls, nationally recognized geropsychologist and integrated care expert and Director of the Gerontology Center at UCCS, the team worked together for six years to develop a robust system that improves the quality of care in senior housing while reducing costs.
“Our mission from the onset was to improve the lives and wellbeing of older adults by empowering people who care for them with technology that enables high quality, person-centered care,” said Kent Carlson, Founder and CEO of RCSPros. “By combining the best minds in gerontology with web technologies, we’re achieving these goals.”
EHR Primed for Explosive Growth
RCSPros serves the rapidly growing assisted living facilities industry in the US, which reported over $56 billion in revenue in 2011 and is expected to grow to $79 billion by 2016. Healthcare reform and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) are pushing care providers across the care continuum to digitize health records and implement EHRs with the goal of reducing costs and improving healthcare outcomes. This is creating a boon for companies in the EHR space.
RCS has been successfully deployed at various assisted living facilities and is actively used by four sites in Colorado.
“Communicating through RCS has decreased the time needed for shift changes and reduced the number of all staff meetings by fifty percent,” said Amy White-Tanabe, Director of Operations at Heritage Healthcare Management, Inc. “This results in less overtime and fewer, more productive meetings.”
RCS is for sale because its founder wishes to retire. RCS offers a buy verses build opportunity when time to market is critical.
