Announcement: GuitarControl.com Releases “Guitar Lesson on Hexatonic Scale - Guitar Lick With Hexatonic Scale - Part II
(PRWEB) July 06, 2014 -- The Hexatonic Scale is a scale with six notes per octave. Some examples of this scale are the whole Tone scale, Augmented Scale, Prometheus Scale and the Blues Scale. These types of scales are prominent in the Jazz genre of music.
MacLennan demonstrates the Hexatonic lick base off of a GM7 chord as follows; 7th fret of the first string with 2nd finger to 8th fret of the 2nd string with 2nd finger and then back to the 7th fret of the 2nd string to the 5th fret with first finger to the 7th fret of the 3rd string with 4th finger to the 4th fret with first finger to 7th fret of the 4th string with 4th finger to the 5th fret with first finger and finally to 7th fret of the 5th string. By skipping these notes from the major scale it instantly sounds like a melody instead of just a scale. By simply changing the timing and incorporating other techniques you can tailor the lick to what ever rhythm you play it over. Guitar TAB’s are available at GuitarControl.com.
