Le Sieur d'Iberville Announces Grand Opening on Thursday, July 10
Montreal, QC (PRWEB) July 08, 2014 -- Le Sieur d’Iberville, a new restaurant located at the corner of Mont-Royal and d’Iberville, today announced its grand opening on Thursday, July 10 at 7 pm. Food will be served and proceeds from drink sales will go to the Fondation CHU Sainte-Justine.
Le Sieur d'Iberville draws its inspiration from two Montreal institutions – the brasserie and the rotisserie. By revitalizing these traditions and incorporating new elements – for example, the black & white colors of a classic Parisian brasserie – Le Sieur d'Iberville combines the elegance expected by a business clientele with the warmth and intimacy of a great brasserie du coin.
Specializing in chef-driven bar food and adding a few Louisiana inspirations, such as Bavette Bienville, Le Sieur d’Iberville showcases a massive wood-fired rotisserie with the capacity to cook 18 chickens per hour. In order to create a convivial ambience, Le Sieur d’Iberville features large tables that accommodate groups and facilitate introductions, food platters intended for sharing and draft beer served in ‘growlers’ – elegant antique-styled pitchers.
Le Sieur d’Iberville also features a unique ‘beer dumbwaiter’ that connects the ground floor to the basement. This distinctive feature was uncovered during renovations and dates back to the 1950s. Painstakingly restored to its original condition, the ‘beer dumbwaiter’ is now a central element of Le Sieur d’Iberville’s original décor.
Le Sieur d’Iberville’s Owner/Operators include: Greg and Mike Silas – Typhoon Lounge and Steve Leslie – Taverne sur le square.
Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville (1661 – 1706) was an important figure in the history of New France. d’Iberville was a soldier, adventurer, trader and founder of Louisiana. Born in Ville-Marie (now Montreal), d’Iberville was a knight of the Order of St-Louis and was titled ‘Sieur d’Iberville’. In addition to his numerous accomplishments, d’Iberville was a well-known bon vivant – a man fond of gourmet food, fine wine and great celebrations. Le Sieur d’Iberville pays homage to Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville’s spirit of adventure and love of life.
“By revitalizing two Montreal institutions – the brasserie and the rotisserie – we hope to offer our patrons a unique dining experience,” says Mike Silas, Partner, Le Sieur d’Iberville. “Our goal is to pay homage to an icon of the city’s history, create a warm and friendly ambience, and offer exceptional food with great service and attention to detail,” adds Mike.
