A registered patent attorney and former U.S. Patent Examiner with more than 15 years of experience in patent and intellectual property (IP) law, McAleenan provides strategic patent portfolio development and IP services for diverse technology clients -- from multinational corporations and major research institutions to start-up companies. He routinely advises clients on all aspects of worldwide patent prosecution in the arts of mechanical, medical devices, electro-mechanical, physics and business methods. McAleenan also performs IP technology landscaping and patent due diligence related to venture capital investment, mergers and acquisitions, and licensing opportunities. He is experienced in preparing, reviewing and negotiating confidentiality, consulting and licensing agreements for worldwide contracts.
McAleenan has held in-house legal roles at significant U.S. and multinational companies, having served as Senior Patent Counsel and Senior Intellectual Property Attorney. Early in his career, he was a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for over five years.
