Are Tanning Beds Finally Being Unplugged? The New Spray Tanning Craze - a Safe Alternative?
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) July 10, 2014 -- Spray Tanning is rapidly becoming the new alternative for bed-tanning amongst the health conscious northwest community. This comes as no surprise considering the news of indoor ultraviolet (UV) tanners being 74 percent more likely to develop melanoma than those who have never tanned indoors. Newly established yet fast-growing Greenwood neighborhood business, Just Bronzed Airbrush Studio, is booked with clients who enjoy the benefits of affordable and healthy UV-free tanning along with whole body skincare.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective sunless tanning products contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. DHA is a colorless chemical (it is derived from glycerin) that interacts with the amino acids in dead skin cells to produce a brown color change. Since these dead skin cells are constantly being shed, the color change produced by DHA usually lasts about five to seven days. There are no known dangers of the use of DHA on the body, as it’s been proven by the FDA to be safe to apply for a sunless tan.
“It’s very simple,” says the owner operator Aleisha Pistilli. “Just think about celebrities. They know their looks are crucial to their jobs, so they avoid things that are harmful to their skin and could give them cancer. That rules out the use of tanning beds.” Aleisha points out that, “Most people are not well informed about skin treatment. We want to educate people, as well as providing them skin care services that make them look and feel their best everyday.”
Just Bronzed Airbrush Studio and Salon is open for business Tuesday through Saturday, 10am-8pm, and Sundays by APPT only.
