Eight Surefire Ways to Travel Safely With Sex Toys
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 08, 2014 -- Traveling can be super stressful, especially in the summer when airline security lines appear to stretch for miles and the number of kids traveling seems to multiply by the thousands. When tension and stress run high, a natural solution can be a nice roll in the hay. Although it’s great to have a companion to assist in providing that relief, sometimes it’s necessary to bring along a few toys to ramp up the fun, companion or not.
Dr. Kat, certified Clinical Sexologist and Marriage and Family Therapist, offers great advice for traveling with sex products. “I’ve had to travel with a few sex products in my day," she says. "And I’ve given some TSA agents lots to talk about on their coffee breaks on more than one occasion.” Her experiences with airline security have led to a handful of helpful tips for people who want to bring toys on their trips.
1. Buzz-free
Lots of toys use batteries, and when they get turned on, they vibrate. Sometimes, toys get turned on accidentally, and if that happens while you are trying to get through security you can bet agents will seize the bag, remove the vibrating toy and maybe even hold it up for you. Embarrassing. Make sure to remove batteries from toys before hitting the airport. Also, the TSA has some guidelines for traveling with batteries and devices: http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/safe-travel-batteries-and-devices.
2. Layer It
Slip your toys into bags, and pack them discreetly in between clothing. They are less noticeable this way and if an agent does decide to go through your bag it gives you time to alert the agent to the surprise in the bag.
3. Be Discreet
You can buy sex toys that look like other items, like make-up compacts or a lipstick. You may still have to come clean and tell the agent what that lipstick-looking device really is, but at least the discussion doesn't happen while the agent is waving around a big dildo.
4. Know the Rules
Just because you think your sex toy is OK to have in the good ol’ US of A doesn’t mean it actually is. For example, in 1999 in Alabama, the assistant attorney general said there is no "fundamental right for a person to buy a device to produce orgasm." The state still bans all sex toys. India and Saudi Arabia do, too. My advice – do some research before you leave town.
5. Truth Be Told
If the TSA questions you about “what’s in the bag?”, answer honestly. If you lie or hem and haw, it could compel them to question you further and/or do a complete check of all of your bags. After all, if you can’t say “sex toys,” you probably shouldn’t own them.
6. Great Things Come in Small Packages
Simply stated, small sex toys are far easier to travel with – plus they’ll add less weight to your baggage and you won’t have to explain that huge double-ended dildo to the stern woman with the sidearm. Plus the TSA actually has a restriction that “tools” need to be 7 inches or smaller for carry on.
7. Wrap it Up
If you don’t want the TSA fondling your sex toys during a search, I highly suggest putting each one in its own clear plastic bag. It keeps things clean and might help you avoid an on-site demo.
8. Don’t Worry
The TSA has seen it all, so there really is no need for embarrassment. Many of them will tell you it’s just apart of their job.
