Think Beyond the Label Launches Smart Hire Program to Help Businesses Recruit Talented Job and Internship Seekers With Disabilities

Smart Hire lets employers browse the profiles of candidates with disabilities online and start meeting their talent and diversity needs.

Think Beyond the Label today launched Smart Hire, an innovative program that lets federal contractor and other businesses tap into a pool of pre-screened and qualified job and internship seekers with disabilities and recruit them for open positions.

Smart Hire, which can be found at, is an online resource that introduces employers to a select group of professional candidates with disabilities who want to share their information with businesses looking to hire them for jobs or internships. The program will initially be available at no cost to employers.

Smart Hire features one-paragraph descriptions of candidates including their professional and academic qualifications. To participate, job seekers must have at least a four-year college degree and be actively searching for a job in a professional industry such as accounting, information technology or healthcare. Internship seekers must be working towards a four-year college or advanced degree.

“Smart Hire takes our four years of expertise in connecting businesses to all types of job seekers with disabilities to the next level, and is our most proactive professional candidate-sourcing program to date. We’re excited about the opportunities this will afford federal contractors and other businesses as they work to meet their federal hiring requirements and further diversify their workforces,” says Barbara A. Otto, principal of Think Beyond the Label, a public-private partnership that aims to help employers build their pipeline of qualified candidates with disabilities.

Think Beyond The Label has enlisted The Sea Glass Group, a unique recruiting firm that specializes in identifying and recruiting college graduates and advanced-degreed professionals with disabilities. Businesses that are interested in a candidate’s profile will be connected to a member of The Sea Glass Group’s executive team, who will provide the candidate’s full resume to recruiters.
