Investment Highlights in Cleantech
While European investment in Cleantech from traditional pureplay and generalist VC’s is trending downward in recent years these types of investors will still contribute significant investment. There are however two categories of investors that are on the rise. *Investment in Cleantech by Corporates rose to 19% in 2012, up 5% on the previous year. The second category of investors showing growth is the long tail of ‘Other’ Cleantech investors, which aggregates many types, including public sector investors, institutional finance (that are not Venture Capital or Private Equity fund managers), regional development finance and private wealth sources. In terms of sectors that are out in front in terms of investment the top runners are Energy Efficiency, Water and wastewater, recycling & waste and advanced materials.
